Why We’re Proud to Be a Board Member of Contractors of Minnesota (And What That Means for You)

🤔What is CAM?

If you haven’t heard of them, Contractors Association of Minnesota (CAM) is a nonprofit that supports contractors across the state through education, advocacy, and networking.

They’re the ones making sure Minnesota contractors stay up to date on important industry updates, making sure we stay compliant so that we can better serve Minnesota homeowners like you.

At Twin City Roofing, we believe that credibility is earned — not claimed. It’s built through years of hard work, integrity, and a commitment to doing things the right way, even when no one’s watching. That’s why we’re proud to be active members — and in my case, a board member — of the Contractors Association of Minnesota (CAM).

Raising the Bar for Contractors Across Minnesota

CAM is more than just a trade organization. It’s a driving force for ethicseducation, and continuing excellence in our industry. CAM provides ongoing training and CE opportunities to ensure that contractors across the state stay current on codes, safety, and best practices — not just for compliance, but because it’s the right thing to do.

As a company that values transparency and science-based construction methods, we rely on CAM to help us uphold the highest standards of professionalism. When you choose a contractor aligned with CAM, you’re choosing a company that has committed itself to a code of ethics, proper licensing, and accountability.

👷‍♀️What it Means to Be a CAM Board Member

Being a CAM board member means we can aid in guiding CAM’s direction, support legislation, and create opportunities for Minnesota’s construction professionals (which helps us better meet the needs of local Minnesota homeowners).

As a board member, we make sure to show our support for CAM by attending all industry events and providing strategic insight into how we can improve our services and utilize the tools around us. We’re proud to be a part of an organization that advocates for local, small home improvement companies and prioritizes supporting other companies in the industry.

⭐Why We’re Proud to Be a Part of CAM

When it comes to better serving our Minnesota homeowners, CAM gives us all the resources necessary to strategize how we can meet your homeowner needs better. Three things that can benefit you when you choose to work with a company that is a CAM member are:

✅Staying Updated on Industry Changes

✅Gaining Insight from Minnesota Local Contractors

✅Hearing Tips to Help Homeowners

However, what truly sets CAM apart — and one of the reasons why Lisa, the owner here at TCR, is so proud to serve on its board — is the organization’s deep commitment to giving back.

In partnership with Disabled American Veterans (DAV), CAM has developed a groundbreaking initiative to help veterans in need with critical housing repairs and remodeling support. During a recent board meeting, we learned that Minnesota’s CAM is one of the only contractor associations in the entire country with a program of this kind — and it was even recognized in Washington, D.C. for its leadership.

Explore CAM’s Community Outreach to see how we’re making a difference, one project at a time.

Being a CAM member means more than just staying in the loop with the latest trends in the industry, regulatory changes, and best practices that directly impact Twin City homeowners like you. It means staying sharp in industry knowledge lets us be more aware of the ever-changing needs of our homeowners. Not only that, but through CAM events, we’re able to network and connect with other Minnesota local businesses to show our support for other companies and collaborate together on how we can improve our companies.

🫵 How CAM Helps You as a Minnesota Homeowner

CAM supports high construction standards, so homeowners can trust they’re hiring licensed, ethical, and educated contractors. Three key takeaways you should know about how CAM can help you are:

✅We’re Continually Expanding Our Knowledge in the Industry

✅We stay notified about Legislature changes so that you don’t have to

✅We attend meetings with YOU in mind

When contractors are protected, educated, and connected, you are directly benefited by being serviced by a highly informed home improvement company!

I have been in this industry for about a year and a half now, and one thing is for certain: class 4 impact-resistant shingles are the new norm. If you are unfamiliar with the term “class 4”, I don’t blame you. Roofing is boring, it’s an afterthought for homeowners. It only comes to mind when you start seeing your street filling up with yard signs or a brown spot on the ceiling in your living room from a leak. Since you’re reading this, you’re more than likely shopping around for a new roof. Calling contractors, scheduling those free inspections, and ultimately receiving estimates. Your eyes stumble across an upgrade option to a “Class 4 Impact-Resistant Shingle”. The thought crosses your mind: “What does this mean?” Impact resistant shingles are marketed to homeowners to be the most durable shingle on the market. They’re designed to withstand the harshest weather mother nature can provide. Hail and wind are enemy #1 for your roof. In Minnesota, we are no stranger to these events. According to the National Centers for Environmental Information, Minnesota has had 36 severe storms that have caused over a billion dollars’ worth of damage.
